Transportation accidents may generally be categorised as follows:
- Accidents related to landing and take-off by helicopter of personnel to and from the platform
- Accidents related to transit time spent in the helicopter, which do not include boarding the helicopter, such as helicopter crashes
- Accidents related to embarkation and disembarkation (by boat) of personnel to and from the platform
- Accidents related to transit time spent in boat, which do not include boarding the boat, such as boat capsizing.
Methodology
Evaluation of the risk of transportation accidents involves the following steps:
- Determining transport accident frequency from available historical data
- Quantifying personnel fatality risk.
