SIL Verification

The activities in this task will include the evaluation of the SIF/SIS using Exida’s latest exSILentia software to determine the systems performance. In accordance with International Standard IEC 61508/61511, the average probability of failure on demand (PFDavg) of each safety-instrumented function will be determined.

It should be noted that the SIL Assessment report needs to be finalised and approved by CLIENT before PetroRisk can proceed with SIL Verification.

Software

ExSILentia™ is IEC compliant Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Life Cycle tool that can be used to conduct SIL Assessment, Validation and Optimization exercises. ExSILentia comes equipped with an extensive failure rate database. Users can also easily import their own data into the database and update changes to reflect the failure rates over time.

SIL Verification is done by the program by calculating the Probability of Failure on Demand (PFD) according to IEC 61508 & 61511.

Databases

Any failure rate data not supplied by the COMPANY will be obtained from appropriate databases or referenced from applicable industry sources.
